Steps vs Screens

Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 3, 2026

Summary

Steps vs Screens is designed to be simple and privacy-first. The app uses your device’s data (with your permission) to calculate a daily “duel” between steps and screen time.

  • No account required.
  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We only access the data needed to provide the app’s core functionality.

Information the app accesses

With your permission, Steps vs Screens may access:

  • Step count (Apple Health) — used to calculate your daily steps total.
  • Screen Time totals (Family Controls / Screen Time APIs) — used to calculate your daily screen time total.

These permissions can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

How we use your information

We use the step and screen time totals to:

  • Calculate your daily result (Steps win vs Screens win).
  • Display your daily totals and recent history inside the app.
  • Provide optional features you enable (for example, reminders/notifications if implemented).

Data storage

Steps vs Screens is built to work without requiring you to create an account. Your results may be stored on your device to show history and trends.

If you delete the app, on-device stored data may be removed by iOS. Health and Screen Time data remain managed by Apple.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not share your Health or Screen Time data with advertisers.

If you choose to contact support by email, we will receive whatever information you include in your message.

Third-party services

The app relies on Apple frameworks (such as Apple Health and Screen Time / Family Controls) to access the permitted data. Apple’s handling of Health and Screen Time data is governed by Apple’s policies and your device settings.

Children’s privacy

Steps vs Screens is not intended for children under 13 without parental involvement. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us via support email, please contact us and we will work to delete it.

Your choices

  • You can revoke Health permissions in the Health app and iOS Settings.
  • You can revoke Screen Time / Family Controls permissions in iOS Settings.
  • You can stop using the app at any time.
